Woman Charged After Throwing Drink in Man's Face: Blotter

Drink To The Face
Oliva R. Mitchell, 22, of the 1100 block of Reservoir Street in Springfield, was charged with battery, according to a report. She is accused of throwing a full glass, striking a man in the face. Police were called at about 3:30 a.m. to the 100 block of South Halsted Street. Mitchell is due in Markham court on April 17.

Grease Fire
Spilled grease is being blamed for a stove fire that ignited at about 6:42 p.m. in the 1200 block of Washington Street, according to a report. The person who was cooking told police the grease had splashed on the stove. Firefighters extinguished the fire shortly after police arrived.

DUI For Chicago Heights Man
German R. Franco, 45, of the 1600 block of Oak Street in Chicago Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, failure to signal when required and driving without a valid license, according to a report. Police allegedly saw Franco's vehicle almost strike some parked cars and make a turn without signaling at about 1:54 a.m. near the intersection of 19th Street and Euclid Avenue. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. Franco was asked to perform field sobriety tests, after which he was arrested. He also took a breath test while in police custody. Franco is due in Markham court on April 17.
