Chicago Heights Man Accused in Meat Cleaver/Stun Gun Attack

Prosecutors say he and a woman lured teen to an apartment and set upon him Friday. A neighbor heard the screams.

A Chicago Heights man is accused of attempted murder in a Friday meat-cleaver attack on a 19-year-old man.

Brian Herman, 31, of Chicago Heights, and Shaquietta Brison, 25, of Chicago, conspired to lure Christian Landon to Brison’s South Maywood Avenue apartment in South Austin on Friday, according to authorities, where Brison then zapped him with a stun gun.

Herman then attacked Landon with a meat cleaver, slashing his face and hands, according to prosecutors. Landon was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he underwent surgery on his fingers, reports the Chicago Tribune.

A neighbor heard screaming and called the police. According to the Sun-Times, prosecutors said Brison told police Landon tried to choke and sexually assault her after breaking into her apartment. Later, she recanted.

A Cook County judge on Sunday set bail for Herman at $750,000 and bail for Brison at $100,000. Each is charged with three felony counts of attempted murder, disorderly conduct and aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon.
