Chicago Heights Police Blotter: Man Arrested Twice in One Day; Elevator Door Attacked

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22

Down the Hall, Down the Shaft

Police escorted a 41-year-old Ford Heights man out of a Chicago Heights apartment building after an altercation with his girlfriend, according to reports. On his way out, the man told police, "Just take me to (expletive) jail so I could be away from this (expletive)." The man then began hitting his forehead against the hallway wall before striking an elevator door, causing the door to fall down the shaft, the report said. Police pulled the man back for his safety and had him transported to St. James Hospital because of breathing issues.

Stolen Vehicle

A 42-year-old employee at Marylin's Pizza in the first block of 16th Street told police he was closing the restaurant and warming up his car when his Jeep was stolen. The man said he had left the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked.

TUESDAY, JUNE 21

Two Trips in One Day

Hector Hinojosa Jr., 40, of the first block of West 25th Street was arrested and charged with public intoxication after police saw him urinating on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of Chicago Road.

Hinojosa was arrested again the same day and charged with domestic battery after a woman at his home said he hit her on the top of her head with a closed fist.

Pit Bull Attack

A 33-year-old Cicero woman told police she was walking near the intersection of 19th Street and Aberdeen Street when she was attacked by an adult white pit bull. The woman had minor swelling from a bite on her left knee, but she declined further medical attention. The dog left the area and could not be found.

Sauced Caddy

A 24-year-old Chicago Heights man told police someone squirted an unknown "red sauce" on his 1995 Cadillac Deville sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. June 21.

Stolen Debit Card

A 25-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she lost her debit card on June 7 but noticed more than $300 was withdrawn from her checking account over the next two days. A few days later, Bank of America told the woman an unknown person had attempted to cash two checks, made out to her, for $2,837.65 and $3,289.54. Neither check was cashed.

Everything But the Kitchen Sink

A 62-year-old Chicago Heights man told police that someone walked up to his residence and took a lime green double-sink countertop that was leaning against his garage.
