Cops Accused of 'Trying to DUI' Dyer Man: Police Blotter

SUNDAY, SEPT. 9

'You're Trying to DUI Me'

John F. Petrassi, 36, of the 14100 block of West 81st Drive in Dyer, IN, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police initially stopped Petrassi near the intersection of Holbrook Road and Glenwood Road after seeing his vehicle hit a curb on Halsted and go airborne, according to the report. He then picked up speed and crossed over into oncoming traffic lanes before coming to a stop, police said. Petrassi reeked of alcohol and police had him perform field sobriety tests. He did the one-leg stand test, but when asked to do the walk and turn test, Petrassi refused and said, "You're trying to DUI me," according to the report. He was then taken into custody.

DUI

Angel Garcia, 25, of the 400 block of Ingram Avenue in Calumet City, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 14th Street and Ashland Avenue for speeding and swerving over traffic lines, according to the report. Police noticed Garcia's eyes were bloodshot. He told police he had just drank two beers. Garcia was hit with additional charges, including improper lane usage, speeding, no insurance, driving on a suspended license and blood-alcohol content over .08, according to the report.

Drug Debt Collector

A 52-year-old CHicago Heights woman told police she was chased by a 35-year-old Chicago Heights man, who was holding a wooden board, in the 500 block of Brookline Street. As he was chasing the woman, the man yelled, "Give me my money or I'll kill you," according to the report. She ran inside a nearby house and the man fled in an unknown direction. The woman told police the man believes she owes him money for drugs but said she no longer does. 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 7

'Twan' and His Pipe

A 49-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he walked past a group of people in the 300 block of West 15th Place and said hello to an old girlfriend. Afterwards a 30-year-old man with a large afro, known only as Twan, said, "I'm tired of you bothering me." Twan then approached the man. When the man tried to walk away, Twan struck him in the right arm with a large pipe before running into a residence. Police were unable to locate the pipe wielding attacker, according to the report. The victim refused medical attention.

Additional Charges 

A 53-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police someone accessed her Sprint cell phone account and purchased four iPhone 4S phones. The woman said she did not know how someone was able to access her account pin number, but provided police with the serial numbers for the new phones.
