Cops Caught Man Oily-Handed with Stolen Car: Police

Stolen Car Found, Sans Battery


A 2009 4-door Volkswagon Jetta that was reported stolen on July 9 out of Chicago was recently covered, Chicago Heights police said. The car was found at about 9:51 a.m. in the first block of West McEldowney Street. There was no damage to the car but the battery was missing.

Caught Oily-Handed


A 44-year-old Gary man was arrested by Chicago Heights police after a stolen vehicle was tracked down.Officers were dispatched at about 6:46 p.m. to the 1500 block of Wentworth for a stolen 2011 Chevrolet Camaro that OnStar was tracking, police said. The car had been reported stolen in Gary, IN.

The Gary man was seen by cops with keys in his hands while adding oil to the engine, police said. The man, Montrelle D. Dubose of the 1000 block of Madison Street, was arrested on an active Chicago Heights Police Department warrant.

Police were unsuccessful in their attempt to contact the registered owner of the car.

Dubose was not charged at the time the report was taken, police said.
