Driver Admits to Drinking 4 Beers at Midnight: Blotter

THURSDAY, APRIL 25

DUI Charge After Running Red Light

Wallace Bennett, 62, of the first block of McCarthy Road, Park Forest, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and disobeying a stop sign, according to a report. An officer saw Bennett's car fail to stop at a red light at about 12:46 a.m. near 1600 Chicago Rd. Police reported smelling an odor of alcohol on Bennett's breath. He performed field sobriety tests, after which he was arrested. Whilein custody at the police department, Bennett took a breath test.

Heineken Theft

A man wearing a black jacket ran off with two 12 packs of Heineken beer at about 3:45 p.m. from Ultra Food, 601 W. 14th St., according to a report. The thief got into a grey Chevrolet Cruz and drove off. No arrests were reported.

4 Beers At Midnight

Epigmenio A. Guerrero, 39, of the 1300 block of Scott Avenue, Chicago Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, speeding, driving without insurance and driving without a license, according to a report. Guerrero was stopped for speeding at about 2:52 a.m. in the 1300 block of Scott Avenue. Police said the driver had blood-shot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Guerrero told police he had four beers around midnight. He took field sobriety tests and a breath test. Guerrero is due on May 29 in Markham court.

TUESDAY, APRIL 23

Speeding Stop Lead To DUI Charge

Tyrone J. Rogers, Jr., 25, of the 15300 block of Ellis Avenue, South Holland, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, illegal transportation of liquor and speeding, according to a report. Rogers was stopped for speeding at about 1:21 a.m. in the 400 block of West 14th Street. He performed field sobriety tests and a breath test, after which he was arrested and taken to the Chicago Heights police department. Rogers is due on May 29 in Markham court.
