Elderly Heights Man Robbed While Checking Mail

The man sustained minor injuries after attempting to chase down the robbers.

A Chicago Heights senior citizen got to unwelcome visitor wile he was checking his mail in the first block of Olympia Village on Monday, Nov. 5.

The 79-year-old man told police he was getting his mail when a man walked into the building and said, "Hey, give us some money." The stranger then reached into the man's rear pocket and removed his wallet, according to the report.

The victim turned around and saw a second man holding the door open for the thief, who fled out the door. The man tried to chase down the two men but fell to the ground, causing minor injuries to his chin and right hand, according to the report.

The man refused any medical attention and police were unable to locate the offenders.
