Fire Destroys South Chicago Heights Burger King

After $1 million in damage, the building is being considered a total loss.

Facebook was buzzing with photos of a burning South Chicago Heights Burger King Wednesday evening. 

The restaurant, , caught fire sometime after 7:30 p.m. with three employees and two customers inside, South Chicago Heights Fire Chief Larry Nardoni told Tribune reporters

The group got out safely and there were no major injuries, although one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion, Nardoni said.

South Chicago Heights firefighters got assistance from eight other departments and put the fire out in just over an hour, Nardoni told the Tribune.

Officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
