A Ford Heights teenager is now charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of a 48-year-old man, apparently attacked for his bicycle, according to Cook County Sheriff's police.
Ronald Wade, 18, of the 1000 block of Lexington Circle in Ford Heights, is also charged with one count of first degree murder and felony robbery in the July 11 attack, the sheriff's office said.
Fred Barnes died at Stroger Hospital last Saturday from his injuries, the office said. He and Wade were struggling over a bicycle in the 1400 block of East 13th Place when Wade used a chokehold on the older man, the office said.
