House Fire Displaces Elderly Chicago Heights Couple

It was unclear what started the fire late Tuesday night in the 700 block of Travers Avenue.

No one was hurt in a fire late Tuesday night that burned a house in the 700 block of Travers Avenue.

An elderly couple and several of their children and grandchildren were home when the fire ignited, witnesses said. The fire, which appears to have started in the back bedroom, left the house unlivable.

Firefighters responded at about 8:20 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
