Man Flees Cops During Warrant Check: Police Blotter

Tevin Gunby, 20, of the 900 block of Mary Byrne Drive in Sauk Village, was arrested and charged with obstruction to a police officer he was stopped outside Ricky's Liquor Store on 16th Street, according to the report. Police were responding to a call about a suspicious subject and possible drug activity when they saw Gunby in front of the business. Asked if he had an ID, Gunby said he did not but told police his name.

As police checked their records for any warrants, Gunby took off running toward Portland Avenue, then south toward Shields Avenue. Police chased Gunby and told him to stop running several times before capturing him near the intersection of 17th Street and Shields Avenue, according to the report. Police discovered there was an active warrant for Gunby's arrest from the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to the report.

Harassment

A 29-year-old Chicago Heights man told police a man called him asking questions about his sister, to which he replied that he had not been in touch with his sister. The man called five more times, causing the victim to become irate, according to police. About 20 minutes later another man called and said, "I'm sending two guys over to your house, I have all your information." The caller then recited the man's correct social security number to him. The vitcim blocked all calls after that.

Hole Puncher

A 30-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her ex-boyfriend drank beer all day and capped it off by getting upset with her over a personal matter. The woman asked the man to leave, at which time he punched holes in the drywall in several rooms of her home. The ex then took the woman's house key and fled the area, according to the report.

Cell Phone Thief

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was in the 1400 block of Chicago Road when a 22-year-old Glenwood woman borrowed his cell phone. The man went outside the building to smoke a cigarette while the woman used his phone. When he returned the woman was gone, along with his phone, according to the report. The man told police he has called the phone several time, but has not received an answer.
