Man Followed and Attacked with Bat: Police Blotter

MONDAY, OCT. 15

Stolen Car

A 20-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her vehicle was taken from its parking spot in front of her Aberdeen Street apartment sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 15. The woman informed police one of her relatives may still have the keys to the vehicle, according to the report. Police saw no broken glass where the car was parked.

Public Intoxication

Robert L. Fortenberry, 53, of the first block of West 23rd Street, and Otto L. Perry, 54, of the 100 block of East 16th Place, were both arrested and charged with public intoxication after police saw them drinking malt liquor at the Pace bus terminal on 16th Street, according to the report. Both men had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, police said.

Batter Up

A 20-year-old Markham man told police he was walking on east on 16th Place near Thom Street when he saw a white vehicle drive past him. The man said he then passed a man, he knows only as "Tone," according to the report. The man said he felt the presence of someone behind him and turned around to see a man swinging a baseball bat at him. The batter missed his mark but followed the man to a residence in the 1600 block of Thom Street. When police arrived, they were unable to locate the attacker, according to the report.

FRIDAY, OCT. 12

Stolen Dog

A 39-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his dog was taken from the rear of his mother's Thorn Street home sometime between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The man said the dog was inside an enclosed yard with a fence and that he had already checked with the South Suburban Humane Society, along with several animal hospitals, to no avail. The dog is a three- to four-year-old grey and white female pit bull, weighing about 30 pounds and answering to the name "Bella," according to the report.
