Man Tried to Buy Sex Before Stealing Woman's Phone: Police
A Calumet City woman was victimized by a man who scratched her face and took off with her cell phone, according to police.
A woman walking to a Chicago Heights bus stop was propositioned by a man before having her cell phone stolen, police said.
The 35-year-old woman from Calumet City was headed to the stop at about 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 2 in the first block of 16th Street when she noticed a man in his 20s following her, according to Chicago Heights police.
The man grabbed her buttocks and offered her $100 for sex, police said. When she pulled out a cell phone to call 911, the man grabbed it and took off running westbound on 16th Street. The robber left a 3-inch scratch on the woman's face in the process. She refused treatment.
Chicago Heights cops were unable to find the assailant. The phone is a pink and black LG brand.
The victim described the robber as a 6-foot tall, 140-pound black male in his 20s.
