The home is sacred. Those who break in are not. Here's a roundup of recent home burglary reports from Chicago Heights.

THURSDAY, APRIL 11

Burglary In Progress

Police were called at about 1:14 p.m. to a burglary in progress at a home in the 1100 block of Emerald Avenue, according to a report. Two people on the second floor heard banging in the basement. When they went to check it out, they found a man in his 20s carrying a black duffel bag. The burglar ran away when they approached. Copper pipes were missing from the basement, causing water to leak out.

Three Burglars Abscond With TV

Three men in dark clothing were seen leaving a home at about 8:15 p.m. in the 500 block of West 16th Street and carrying a $600 television set, according to a report. A witness told police two of the men fled through some nearby woods and the third drove off in a silver or grey vehicle. No arrests were reported.

SATURDAY, APRIL 6

Dog, Handgun Stolen

A 2-year-old, black and white pit bull, a fully loaded, Beretta 9mm handgun and two TVs valued at $1,100 combined were taken from a home in the first block of West 14th Place, according to a report. The victim left the house locked at about 11 a.m., but did not secure the dead bolt. She returned at 2 p.m. to find someone had pried open the door. Police canvassed the neighborhood but could not find any suspects.

FRIDAY, APRIL 5

Grill Goes Missing

Someone took a $120 grill from the back patio of a home in the 300 block of West 16th Place, according to a report. The property owner believes it was stolen sometime between 3 and 8 p.m.
