Olympia Fields Police Blotter: How SOS Pads Led to Battery Charges

MONDAY, FEB. 7
Suspended and Resisting
Benjamin J. Willis, 29, of Dolton, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest after police said they stopped him near the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Western Avenue for not using a turn signal and crossing two lanes of traffic. After discovering Willis was driving on a suspended license, the officer told him to exit the vehicle several times, according to reports. Willis refused and had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle, police said.
SUNDAY, FEB. 6Speeding Charges Filed
- Jovon Young, 33, of Lansing, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol, police said.
- Robert Patterson, 50, of Sauk Village, was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license, driving with an open alcohol container, speeding and driving without insurance, police said.
Green Means Go
Darren L. Guidry, 27, of Monee, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with an expired registration after police said he remained stopped at a green light at the intersection of Governors Highway and Vollmer Road. Upon closer observation, police said they realized Guidry had fallen asleep at the wheel with his car in gear and a foot on the brake. Guidry was taken into custody after failing three sobriety tests, according to reports.

Suspended License Reported
- Antoine Fleming, 27, of Harvey, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and improper lane use, police said
- Deon Cooley, 38, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, according to police.
- Eugene Anthony, 36, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, police said.
- Antuan Comer, 39, of Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, police said.
Suspended License Alleged
- Leroy Tyler, 49, of Homewood, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, according to police.
- Nelson Booker Jr., 53, of Park Forest, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, police said.
SOS Battery
John W. Anderson, 44, of Matteson, was arrested and charged with battery after police said someone at the Speedway gas station in the 19900 block of Crawford Avenue reported him shaking a woman in the parking lot. Police said the victim reported she and Anderson were leaving Home Depot when Anderson said he would pay her for the SOS pads she bought. When she refused, an argument ensued and Anderson ended up shaking her “in the upper arm and shoulder area," according to reports.
