SUNDAY, MARCH 6

License Problems

  • Blas Martinez, 24 of Blue Island was arrested and charged with speeding and driving without a valid license, police said.
  • William Bradley, 35, of Gulfport, MS, was arrested and charged with speeding and driving on a suspended license, according to police.
  • James Brown, 44, of Park Forest was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, police said.
  • Johnnie Ward, 40, of Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, police said.

DUI

William Whiten III, 34, of Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped near the intersection of Olympian Way and Lincoln Highway after someone called about a possible DUI, police said. Whiten was seen "creeping forward" at the red light and took off at a high speed when the light turned green, swerving across lanes, according to police. After failing three field sobriety tests Whiten was taken into custody, police said.

"You got me"

Marvin Carr, 40, of Park Forest was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped near the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Orchard Avenue for speeding, police said. After being asked if he had been drinking, Carr replied, "Yes, you got me," according to police.

FRIDAY, March 4

Rich Central Fight

Two juvenile girls were arrested at Rich Central High School and charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after getting into a fight, according to police. The police liasons at the school attempted to break up the fight and one of the offenders struck a police officer in the face while the other kicked both liasons, police said.

No License

  • Juan Hernandez, 39, of Chicago Heights was arrested and charged with driving with an obstucted view and driving without valid license, according to police.
  • Jacqueline Carter, 49, of Markham was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license, police said.
THURSDAY, MarCH 3

Loose Lockers

An Olympia Fields woman told police that her daughter's cell phone and iPod were stolen from her gym locker at Rich Central High School between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. while she was at softball practice. School officials told the woman while lockers are reassigned every semester, the combinations to the lockers remain the same, alowing past students who have had the locker to still have access to it, according to the police report.
