DUI Charge for Talkative Tequila Fan

A "talkative" Chicagoan was charged with speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol after sharing with the officer that he had "two or three" shots of tequila, police said. Marcus D. Williams, of Chicago, was pulled over on Lincoln Highway near the intersection of Olympian Way early Sunday morning after driving 65 in a 45 mph zone, police said. The officer noted that Williams' eyes were glassy and he smelled of alcohol. Although Williams was "cocky" and "cooperative," he was unable to do a walk-and-turn, one-leg stand or gaze field sobriety test, police said. Williams registered a blood alcohol level of .181, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Markham Court on Sept. 28.

Dunkin Donuts Employee 'Spitting Mad'

A Dunkin Donuts employee who spit at a coworker was charged with battery, lost his job and is banned from the restaurant, police said. A female employee was working the drive-thru at the chain donut shop at 3252 Vollmer Rd., when she recognized a female customer and began talking with her, according to the report. Police say her co-worker, John Steadman, of Park Forest, then moved her aside. When she asked him what he was doing, he called her a profane term and indicated that he was related to the customer, police said. He then spit at the coworker, spraying her face and mouth with his saliva, according to the police report.

The victim called 911, but Steadman left the scene in the relative's white Ford Expedition, police said. The vehicle was pulled over at Lincoln and Wingate.

The store manager asked police to relay the message to Steadman that his employment with the donut shop is over, and that his last check will be mailed to him. The Park Forest man is now banned from the store, police said.

Stolen Pickup Truck Recovered, Driver Charged

An officer pulled over a white pickup truck at the Speedway gas station, at 3602 W. 211th St., after noticing a photocopied Indiana plate on its bumper, then learned the vehicle was stolen, police said. Ronald M. Conwell, 38, of Park Forest, who was driving the white Ford Truck 350, told the officer that the vehicle belonged to his brother and that the plates were real, according to the report. After searching for the VIN number, the officer discovered it had been removed both from the dashboard and the vehicle's side-door pillar, police said. Later, a representative from the National Insurance Crime Bureau inspected the truck at a Matteson tow yard and was able to recover the VIN using a "scan tool," according to the report.

The truck was stolen from a West Chicago business in November 2008, police said. Conwell was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and improper use of registration. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26 in Markham.
