Police Blotter: Accused Drunken Driver Hands Police His Wallet

Chicago Heights police reports, Oct. 7-8.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

DUI, No Signal, No Insurance, No Seat Belt

Fidel Ayala, 35, of the 400 block of Caldwell Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said, after he was stopped for improper lane usage and failure to signal. Asked to present his driver's license and proof of insurance, Ayala handed his wallet to the police officer, according to the report. After the officer ordered Ayala to present the information himself, he turned the wallet over and shook it until the driver's license dropped out, police said. Ayala was also charged with driving an uninsured vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

Teen Reports Robbery

A 15-year-old Chicago Heights resident told police someone forced open a window at his home and took a laptop, a Playstation 2 and a gold chain, all valued at $1,160, according to the report.

DUI

Ronald Alexander Jr., 37, of the 1100 block of Parkview Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said, after officers stopped him for  improper lane usage and driving at a high rate of speed. Alexander told police he was driving fast because he had an emergency. Asked if he had been drinking, Alexander said he had two beers, according to the report. Police said Alexander was too intoxicated to perform field sobriety tests.

He Said, She Said

Police took a 20-year-old Chicago Heights man into custody, police said, after his Apartments neighbor and ex-girlfriend told police he attacked her while she was trying to bring him milk. The man said the Thornwood security surveillance footage would reveal she had actually attacked him, according to the report. The footage was not immediately available for viewing.

"I'm gonna mess you up"

A 61-year-old Chicago Heights landlord told police he was in an argument with a tenant when the tenant clenched his fists and said "I'm gonna mess you up." The tenant then said "Let's go, we can do this now," but left the scene before police arrived, according to the police report.
