Police Blotter: Accused Drunk Driver 'Smoked Weed Too'

'I Smoked Weed Too!'

Kimberly A. Barnes, 49, of the 100 block of Warwick Street in Park Forest, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped her for speeding and swerving between lanes on 14th Street, according to the report. Asked if she had been drinking, Barnes told police she had "two drinks of Belvedere vodka" before driving. Upon standing on one leg in a field sobriety test, police said, Barnes told officers, "I can't do this when I'm sober, and I smoked weed, too!"

Attacked with Pistols

A 28-year-old Chicago Heights man and a 19-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police they were attacked by two people in their home. The man said one of the people hit him in the back of the head with a silver pistol, according to the report. The woman said the other person pointed a gun at her as well, although her fellow victim denied ever seeing a second gun, according to the report. Both offenders fled the scene.

Battle at the Castle

An employee of the White Castle in the 700 block of Lincoln Highway told police nine people began fighting inside the restaurant, damaging a light shade on a drop lamp in the dining area, according to the report.

Lotion Attack

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she had been in an argument wth her husband when he threw a bottle of lotion at her, scratching her right arm. The husband then fled before police arrived, according to the report.
