Police Blotter: Accused Steak Thief at Food 4 Less

FRIDAY, JAN. 20

Stolen Steaks

Pamela D. Davis, 38, of the first block of Olympia Village, was arrested and charged with retail theft after an employee at Food 4 Less saw her attempting to leave the store with items she had not paid for, including two beef steaks and three strip steaks, according to the report. The total value of the five steaks was nearly $120, police said. The employee stopped Davis before she left the store and police took her into custody, according to the report.

Arson

Police and Chicago Heights firefighters went to an abandoned residence at 180 E. 24th Street where smoke and flames were coming from inside, according to the report. The fire department put out the fire, and said it had been the result of arson that started in the living room of the residence.

DUI

Crystal D. Hunter, 42, of the 900 block of Laura Lane in Sauk Village, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped in the 400 block of Joe Orr Road, according to police.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 18

Drug Possession

Leroy D. Washington, 20, of the 2200 block of Windsor Lane in Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after he was stopped on Halsted Street for running a red light, according to the report. After pulling Washington over police noticed a clear plastic bag containing 10 black plastic bags with a green, leafy substance inside, according to the report. The substance tested positive for cannabis, police said.

Fight at Thornton Heights

A 58-year-old employee at Thornton Heights Terrace mental health facility on 10th Street told police a resident at the facility was angry with her and other staff members because he wanted money owed to him payable Jan 19. The employee told the man she could not give him money without the permission of his guardian and he attempted to punch her with a closed fist, according to the report. Another man tried to restrain the resident and was bitten on the forearm, police said.
