Arguing, Slapping, Choking

A Chicago Heights woman told police a male acquaintance argued with her, slapped and choked her, then stole her car, according to the report. The woman said she was in the 19000 block of Glenwood when the angry Chicago man snatched her keys and fled in her car, police said. Although an officer noted several scratches on the woman's arms and legs, she declined medical treatment, according to the report. The woman's car was entered into the LEADS system, police said.

Man In Monitoring Anklet Charged With Trespass

After a Chicago Heights resident told police a suspicious man was trespassing on her property, police found the man and discovered he was wearing a monitoring device as part of his parole, according to the report. James Lee Nelson Jr., 39, of the 1600 block of Division, told police when he was stopped that he had just concluded a visit to his parole office, police said. An officer took Nelson back to the resident's home, where she identified him as the man who had been peering into her windows and doors, according to the report. Nelson now has an Oct. 4 date in Markham Court at 10:30 a.m., room 205, police said.

Frankfort Man Charged With DUI

A Frankfort man who told police a steel plate in his left leg would not complicate his sobriety testing nevertheless nearly fell two times while trying to lift the limb, police said. Dale E. Engelson, 70, of the 8200 block of Brickstone Drive, was pulled over after an officer spotted him drive through a stop sign at the intersection of 16th Street and Center Avenue, police said. Engelson admitted he had four beers earlier, and his eyes appeared watery and bloodshot, according to the report. 

Aunt Martha's Theft Discovered

A thief or thieves struck Aunt Martha's, taking three computer monitors, a computer, keyboard, blankets and copper piping from the social services agency, police said. The theft from the Aunt Martha's office on 1540 Scott Ave. was discovered Sept. 12, but may have occurred as early as Sept. 9, according to the report. A rear window was found open, with an air conditioning unit kicked in, police said.
