Police Blotter: Drug Paraphernalia Charge, Theft at Spanky's

TUESDAY, JAN. 17

Drug Paraphernalia Charge

Anthony Aurelio, 31, of the 700 block of Coales Road, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Aurelio’s car near Maple Road and Dixie Highway around 2:30 a.m. for having no rear plate light and they saw a bag in the backseat resembling a gun case. According to the report, Aurelio gave officers permission to search the bag, which contained only tools, and they found a glass pipe on the floor.

Aurelio denied ownership of the pipe to police, saying it likely belonged to someone who had recently sat in the backseat.

He was also issued tickets for having no driver’s license with him and no rear registration light.

THURSDAY, JAN. 12

DUI

Jillian M. DiSanto, 29, of the 400 block of West Melrose Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped in the 100 block of Joe Orr Road at 2:19 a.m., according to police.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 11

Step-by-Step Threat

A 40-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police a man called her on her phone and said, "I'm gonna bust out your windows, yank you out of your house and beat your (expletive)." The woman said she did not know why the 39-year-old Chicago Heights man called and said that to her, according to the report.

Dispute at Spanky's

A former employee of Spanky's Laundromat on 14th Street told police that sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 11 three of his amplifiers and an equalizer, valued at a total of $700, were taken from a storage room in the business. Later, the owner of Spanky's told police that a former employee pushed a current employee and said to him over the phone, "I'm going to get my gun and shoot you."

Coats Gone, Nothing More

A 65-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police "several coats of many styles" were taken from a hallway closet in her Olympic Village apartment. The woman could not tell police when she last saw the coats in the closet and police did not see any signs of forced entry into the apartment, according to the report. The woman said the only person with access to her apartment was her brother, but she would not provide any further information about him, police said.

Attempted Burglary

A 57-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she awoke to loud banging noise in her Plymouth Drive home and began calling out for her son. When the woman got out of bed, she noticed the back door had been forced open, with the lock broken and the door forced away from the frame, according to the report. The woman told police she didn't think anyone made it inside or took anything, believing she scared them away when she called out for her son.
