Police Blotter: BB Guns and Accused Prostitutes

Chicago Heights police reports, July 15-17.

TUESDAY, JULY 17

Attempted Vehicle Theft

A 28-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police someone damaged the interior of her car sometime between July 16 and July 17 as it was parked on 15th Place. Police noted damage to the panel under the woman's steering wheel, a windshield wiper and the glove box, according to the report. Nothing was removed from the car but the woman told police she suspected someone was trying to steal the car.

Attempted Bike Theft

A 47-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she saw six to eight juveniles walking in front  of her 15th Street home. She then saw one of the youths grab a bike belonging to her neighbor's child and ride off with it, according to the report. When the woman confronted the juvenile, he dropped the bike and ran, police said. The woman told police she has surveillance fottage of the theft.

Bye Bye, BB Gun

A 51-year-old Chicago Heights woman brought a BB gun and several types of ammunition to the Chicago Heights Police Department, stating it all belonged to her deceased husband and that she did not want it in her house, according to the report. The items included shotshells, .38 special rounds and .357 rounds.

Caught in the Act?

Sandra R. Preacely, 46, of the first block of West 23rd Street, was arrested and charged with prostitution and drug paraphernalia possession after police saw her in a car with a man near the intersection of 17th Street and Shields Avenue, according to the report. Police pulled up near the car and saw Preacely raise her head up from the man's lap area, according to the report.

Police then found a glass pipe, used for smoking narcotics in Preacely's possession, according to the report. The man, Thomas Ruggeri, 48, of the first block of East Craig Drive, was arrested and charged with soliciting a prostitute, police said. While being taken into custody Ruggeri said, "This is embarrassing. All this for a $20 blow job," according to the report.
