Police Blotter: Biting at Bloom, Propane Thief on Camera

TUESDAY, JAN. 24

Biting and Kicking at Bloom

Cierra Blythe, 20, of the 19200 block of South Champlain Avenue in Glenwood, was arrested and charged with battery and criminal damage to property after a staff member at Bloom Alternative School told police she was involved in a disturbance and had to be escorted to the school's office. On the way to the office, Blythe became irate and kicked the wall, causing damage to the frame, according to the report. Blythe then grabbed and bit the staff member's left hand, breaking the skin, police said.

King of the Hill

An employee of CFC International on State Street told police someone stole five propane gas tanks from outside the business between Jan. 16 and Jan. 18. The surveillance cameras revealed a blue pick-up truck entering and exiting the property's Joe Orr Road gate, according to the report. The employee told police he believes the truck was used to take the nearly 40 gallons of propane gas.

FRIDAY, JAN. 20

Abandoned Car

A Chicago Heights man told police about a vehicle that was left parked in the driveway of his 16th Street home. While the man was telling police about the tire tracks the vehicle left on his lawn, a man appeared and walked up to his front door, attempting to get inside his home, police said. Police chased the man on foot, but lost sight of him, according to the report. The mysterious man was about 40 years old and about 6-feet tall, police said.

DUI

Maribel Candia, 20, of the 1000 block of Campbell Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped her in the 300 block of Joe Orr Road at 1:15 a.m., according to the report.

THURSDAY, JAN. 19

Gunning Girlfriend?

Alyssia C. McChristian, 23, of the 100 block of West 14th Street, was arrested and charged with domestic assault after her boyfriend told police she got upset and threw things at him in their apartment. Among these things was her boyfriend's gun case, which contained the pistol he carries when on security duty, according to the report. The case hit the floor and broke, releasing the pistol inside. That's when McChristian picked it up and began "racking" the slide of the gun, cycling through the rounds, according to the report. The boyfriend then grabbed the weapon from her and disassembled it, police said.
