Police Blotter: Car Catches Fire With Man Driving

Woman Pulled form Car and Beaten

A 22-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police the father of her children attacked her in the 1100 block of Emerald Avenue after an argument about where he could watch their children. The man pulled the woman out of her car, slammed her head against the rear window and threw her to the ground, kicking her all over her body, according to the report. The man also broke the woman's phone and fled before police arrived, police said. The woman refused medical attention despite having redness on her neck and a scratch behind her ear, police said.

Assault at Respond Now

An employee at  told police a 40-year-old Sauk Village woman threatened her at the facility after being denied food and clothing. The woman, who was ineligible because she was working at Respond Now to complete 40 hours of community service, cursed the employee and told her, "I know where you live," according to the report.

Car Fire While Driving

A 43-year-old Matteson man told police he was driving westbound on 26th Street when fire came from his rear roof area and spread to the interior of the car. The Chicago Heights Fire Department extinguished the fire, and the man told police he did not need medical attention.

Phone Stolen at Marian Homecoming

A 43-year-old Steger woman told police her daughter was at 's homecoming dance when her cell phone was taken from her purse, which was left on a table with several other purses, according to the report.
