Police Blotter: Chicago Man Accused of Throwing Woman Into Wall

SUNDAY, JAN. 8

Burglary and Severe Damage

A 51-year-old Olympia Fields man told police that sometime between Jan. 7 and Jan. 8, someone broke into his Euclid Avenue property and removed a drill, a circular saw and a DVD player. Three doors were damaged from forced entry and, because the water meter was also stolen, there was extensive water damage to the basement, police said. Two bathroom vanity mirrors were severely damaged as well, according to the report.

Theft at Auto Zone

Scotty L. Gatlin, 39, of the 200 block of West 15th Street, was arrested and charged with retail theft after an employee at the Auto Zone on 14th Street told police he saw Gatlin stuff more than $100 in tire repair products in his jacket and leave the store. Police caught up with Gatlin outside Marcus Theatre in Chicago Heights and took him into custody, according to the report.

THURSDAY, JAN. 5

Thrown Into Wall

A 23-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend when he grabbed her by her hair. The woman scratched the man on the face in an attempt to break free but was thrown into the wall, leaving a large hole in the hallway of the apartment, according to the report. Allante F. Farmer, 22, of the 9100 block of South Wabash in Chicago, was arrested and charged with domestic battery. The woman refused medical treatment, according to the report.

Scuffle with ‘Mexican Mark’

A "highly intoxicated" 24-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was in an East 22nd Street alley when he was approached by a man known only as "Mexican Mark," according to a police report. The two got into an argument that turned physical when “Mark” grabbed the man’s hair and slammed his head onto the ground three times, according to the report. The man told police he then threw a glass bottle, causing “Mark” to really get angry and head-butt him in the nose. A witness said “Mexican Mark” left the area on a bicycle, according to the report.

She Said, She Said

A 24-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was dropping off her boyfriend's belongings at his mother's house, stating he was cheating on her and staying there with "the girl," when the boyfriend became hostile, according to the report. The 23-year-old man hit her in the face with a closed fist, pulled out her hair extensions and kicked her around her face and body, according to the report. The man's mother told police the ex-girlfriend hit him first and intentionally "knocked her to the ground."

Drug Possession

Remone R. Butler, 18, of the 400 block of West 17th Street, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis after police spotted him near the intersection of Division Street and Andover Street putting a clear object into his mouth, according to the report. Asked what he put into his mouth, Butler revealed a clear plastic bag containing a substance that tested positive for about one gram of marijuana, police said.
