Police Blotter: Cop Car Almost Crashes into DUI Arrestee

Near Collision DUI
Andrea Zagone, 31, of the 1100 block of Schilling Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after being stopped for pulling out in front of a fully marked police squad car on 14th Street, police said. The police officer slammed on his brakes to avoid crashing into Zagone's vehicle, according to the report. Zagone was pulled over by police, according to the report. Zagone then referred to herself as "half dago," then argued with the officer, stating "No, you were going to hit me, it wasn't my fault."
Not-So-Great Nephew
An 88-year-old South Chicago Heights woman told police she picked up her brother's grandson to give him a ride to a house on Euclid Avenue in Chicago Heights. On the way there, the 25-year-old man asked her to pull into an alley on 24th Street and stop, which she did, according to the report. He then took the woman's purse off the center console of her car and ran, police said.

Angry Boyfriend
A 45-year-old Hazel Crest woman told police she was in the 200 block of Beacon Boulevard talking to her boyfriend when he became angry and pushed her to the ground, scraping her right elbow. The boyfriend fled the area and the woman refused medical treatment, police said.
