Police Blotter: Drive-by Death Threat

Chicago Heights police reports, May 15-16

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16

Sleeping with a Syringe

William D. Burgy, 22, of the 17800 block of Brookfield Circle in Orland Park was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and driving under the influence. Police said they found Burgy asleep in his car, in a parking lot at 14th Street and Western Avenue, around 3 p.m., with a needle in his leg. Prescription pills and cannabis were found in the cup holder, according to the report.

Soliciting Rides

Cathlene S. Pollack, 51, of the 1500 block of 5th Avenue in Chicago Heights was charged with soliciting rides in the roadway. Police said they saw Pollack wave her arm in the air, on the corner of 16th and Butler streets, around 10:30 p.m., and stop to talk to passing cars.

Drive-by Death Threat

Casey Gordon, 26, of the 1600 block of Ingrid Lane in Chicago Heights was charged with assault. Police said Gordon and another man had been in a fight earlier in the day, in which the man allegedly broke Gordon’s car windshield. Gordon was arrested, however, for driving by the man’s home, around 4 p.m., and threatening to kill him as he passed, according to the report.

Public Intoxication

Winston S. Cole, 59, of the 1600 block of Butler Street in Chicago Heights was charged with public intoxication. Police said Cole was “highly intoxicated” when he walked into the CHPD lobby, around 3:30 a.m., and began yelling and cursing at the dispatch staff.

Beer Case Chase

Leroy Alfored, 46, of the 100 block of 26th Street in Chicago Heights was charged with retail theft. Police said an employee of a grocery store in the 100 block of 14th Street saw Alfored take off with a 12-case of Michelob Ultra beer, around 1 p.m. The employee chased Alfored on the street, recovered the case and helped point police officers in his direction, according to the report.

Expired Liquor License

Police ordered Club Suavee, located at 16th Street and Western Avenue, around10 p.m., to shut down until it renewed its liquor license. The current one had expired and was confiscated, according to the report. No charges were reportedly filed.
