FRIDAY, APRIL 6

Too drunk to drive ... or stand

Roberto Rodriguez, 31, of Steger, Ill. was arrested on a DUI charge near 16th Street and Wentworth Avenue, according reports. Police said Rodriguez’s vehicle was pulled over after officers observed it weaving through traffic at about 4:53 p.m. Officers reportedly noticed that Rodriguez smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and officers had to help him out of his van and hold him up.

Drunk in Public

Ronald Wright, 51, of the 400 block of West 14th Street in Chicago Heights was cited for public intoxication at about 4:59 p.m. Police say Wright was spotted urinating behind a bush near the intersection of 16th Street and Otto Boulevard. Upon approaching Wright, police said his speech was slurred and he appeared confused.

Body Wash Hidden in Pants

Charlton Belle, 48, of the 1000 block of Parkview in Chicago Heights was arrested on a retail theft charge after police say he was seen dropping six bottles of Axe body wash down his pants in a CVS on 141st Street. According to reports, an employee saw Belle take the items and attempt to exit the store without paying for them at about 3:04 p.m. The items are valued at $37.96, the report stated.

Guns, Cash Reported Stolen

A man in the 400 block of Wallace told police a .25 pistol, a .22 caliber revolver and $20,000 in cash was stolen from his home between April 2 and 11:35 a.m. Thursday, April 5, according to reports. The man also said “two long guns” that could be shotguns were taken as well, the report stated. The items had been stored in a safe that had been broken into, the report said.

DUI

Esmeralda Lopez, 43, of the 1900 block of Circle Court in Chicago Heights was arrested and charged with DUI at about 4:43 a.m. in near 14th Street and East End Avenue. No further information was immediately available.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4

Domestic Battery

Leslie Wells Jr., 49, of the 400 block of West 14th Place in Chicago Heights was arrested on a domestic battery charge at about 2:53 p.m. Wednesday, according to reports. Wells struck and choked someone he knew following an argument in the 14th block of West End, police said.4
