DUI and Drug Arrests

Thomas J. Kreider, 49, of the 500 block of E. 219th Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said, after officers stopped him for running a stop sign, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking Kreider said, "Yes, I has one beer earlier today." Police said he failed sobriety tests.

Meanwhile, police discovered crack cocaine on Kreider's passenger, Lamont P. France, 41, of the 200 block of Eddy Street, and he was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to the report.

Missing Money

A 63-year-old Chicago Heights man told police $640 was taken out of his checking account sometime within the month before he reported it missing. The man was unable to provide bank statements proving the money was actually missing, police said.

Stolen ID at Nick's

A 21-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was having dinner with her stepsister at Nick's Gyros when her stepsister asked to see her Illinois state identification card. The woman obliged and her stepsister refused to give the ID back upon leaving the restaurant, according to the report.

Painful Back Slaps

A 76-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was talking to her neighbor about smoking cigarettes, when "suddenly and without provocation, the man became angry and slapped her in the back five to seven times." The woman said she retreated into her apartment, adding that the slaps caused her a lot of pain, according to the report.
