SATURDAY, APRIL 7

Reckless Driver Report Leads to DUI

Giancarlo Yarela, 31, of Matteson was arrested on charges of DUI, driving without headlights when required, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving on a one-way street and no valid driver’s license, according to reports. At about 8:20 a.m., officers were called in reference to a reckless driver near Hickory Street and Aberdeen, according to reports. Officers say they observed Yarela’s vehicle driving without headlights and then turning north on a one-way southbound street.  After Yarela was asked to exit the vehicle, he failed several sobriety tests, according to the report.

DUI

Nakisha Daniels, 22, of the 1200 block of South Halsted in Chicago Heights was arrested on a DUI charge near the intersection of 14th Street and 5th Avenue, according to reports at about 3:21 a.m. No further information was immediately available.

FRIDAY, APRIL 6

DUI

Antonio Garcia, 46, of the the first block of East Main Street in Chicago Heights was arrested on a DUI charge at 10:48 p.m. near 25 E. Main St., according to reports. No further information was immediately available.

Drunk in Public

Two suspected gang members who were reportedly standing on the corner of 15th and Campbell Street for more than an hour were arrested after police officers determined they were intoxicated. Tony Kvita, 24, of Park Forest and Carlos Lopez, 22, of the 1700 block of Euclid in Chicago Heights were arrested on public intoxication charges at about 8:16 p.m. after officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol and observed watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to reports.
