Police Blotter: Grand Am Driver Takes Road Rage Too Far

Chicago Heights police reports, May 12-13.

SUNDAY, MAY 13

Battery

A 23-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her live-in boyfriend of two years pushed her to the floor. The boyfriend then packed up his belongings and left, according to the report. Police searched the area but did not find the boyfriend, according to the report. The woman refused medical attention.

Mysterious Footwear

A 48-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she noticed a pair of casual leather men's shoes next to her front door that did not belong to anyone living at her home. Police recovered the shoes and tagged them into evidence, according to the report.

SATURDAY, MAY 12

Pontiac Attack

A 22-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was driving southbound on Chicago Road approaching 14th Street when a gold Grand Am with the license plate number "9954407" attempted to run him off the road by striking the man's vehicle. The offender then fled the area down Chicago Road, according to the report. The victim had heavy damage on the driver's side of his vehicle, including a broken window, according to the report. The plate number revealed the Grand Am to be owned by two Steger residents, police said.

FedEx Truck Burglarized

A 23-year-old FedEx driver told police he parked one of the company's trucks at Thornwood Apartments with the engine running and the door open as he went up to the second floor of one of the buildings. The man looked out the window from the second floor and saw four to five people taking packages from the truck, according to the report. The driver was able to recover three of the packages after running into one of the offenders in the stairway, police said. The man told police he was not familiar with the area as it was not his usual route.

Possession of Cannabis

Jeremy Alexander, 23, of the 1600 block of West Garfield Blvd. in Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police stopped him for having an expired registration, according to the report. Upon stopping Alexander police smelled a burnt cannabis-like substance and searched his car, finding a burnt cigar, which tested positive for cannabis, on the floor in front of the driver's seat, according to the report.

Son Defends Mother

A 34-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he witnessed a 66-year-old Chicago man punch his mother in the face in his home. When confronted the man told the angry son, "Yeah, I hit her, and I'll hit you too," according to the report. The two men then exchanged blows. After noticing the Chicago man bleeding from the mouth, the son called the police, according to the report. The man was taken to  and treated for his injuries, which included lacerations to his mouth and the potential loss of teeth, police said. The son and mother told police they did not want to pursue the matter any further.
