Police Blotter: Shots Fired at Heights Man on 12th Street

Shooting on 12th and Otto

A 22-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was in his vehicle at a stop sign on 12th Street and Otto Boulevard, when he saw two juveniles standing on the sidewalk. The man then continued driving eastbound and heard several shots fired at his vehicle, according to the report. The man told police he looked back and saw the juveniles still standing where they were. The man's vehicle was struck two times on the front driver's side door, according to police.

Wife With Knife

A 33-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his estranged wife entered his home and began waving a kitchen knife aggressively in his direction. The man ran to the Chicago Heights Police Department while his wife fled in an unknown direction, according to the report.

Reverse! Reverse!

A 24-year-old Park Forest woman told police while she was at the home of a 23-year-old Chicago Heights man he became upset about a child support issue. When the woman attempted to leave the area in her car, the man got in his vehicle and backed up 75 to 100 feet, striking her car and doing damage to the front, according to the report. The woman and a witness told police the man then parked the car in the garage at his home.

Candy Bar Thief?

William J. Patterson, 49, of the 100 block of West 10th Street, was arrested and charged with retail theft after an employee at the Walgreen's in the 600 block of Dixie Highway told police she saw Patterson put 10 Hershey's candy bars into a bag and leave the store without paying. Police located Patterson and took him into custody, according to the report.

Burglary

A 54-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she returned to her Andover Street home to find her bedroom window was shattered. Police discovered a brick inside the bedroom, according to the report. The woman told police she was missing three televisions and a digital camera. A neighbor told police he saw two teenagers knocking on the woman's door the previous day, adding that the teens fled when the woman did not respond.
