Police Blotter: Heights Men Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Gyros Express

Chicago Heights police reports, April 1-2.

MONDAY, APRIL 2

Armed Robbery

Two Chicago Heights men told police they were locking the doors to Gyros Express on Chicago Road when two men wearing black clothing and masks displayed black revolvers and told them to give up their money. When one of the men said he didn't have any money, one of the offenders shot at him but missed, according to the report. The two victims told police they then gave the offenders $2,000 total. The offenders then fled, according to the report.

Visits from the Ex

Josiah Green, 24, of the 3000 block of Union Avenue in South Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing after the owner of an Ingrid Lane home told police he was banging on the rear window at 4:45 a.m. despite being banned from the property. Just after 7 a.m. the same morning at the same residence, Josiah's ex-girlfriend told police he returned, broke out her bedroom window, stuck his head in and start yelling and threatening to kill her. 

You Forgot Something

A 21-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his car was parked in his driveway when he noticed it had been ransacked, with his driver's license, school ID, pocket knife and other paperwork missing. The man said he then found a leather wallet in the car with his sister's ex-boyfriend's ID card inside, according to the report. The victim's father told police he had found the sister's ex sleeping inside his garage just before the burglary was discovered and kicked him out.

Accused Thief Returns

Larry E. Nielson, 53, of the first block of West Hickory Street, was arrested and charged with retail theft after the owner of Heights Fresh Market told police he saw Nielson take two bottles of Heineken, a pack of sausage and a pack of bacon out of the store without paying. A woman who had been with Nielson called him and told him to bring the items back, which he did, according to the report. Upon his return, police took Nielson into custody.

Creepy Caller

A 29-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police a man she had been dating called her several times throughout the day demanding her whereabouts. The woman said she believes the 26-year-old man is following her because when she told him she was not home, he replied, "No, you're not, because I'm outside your house," according to the report.
