Police Blotter: Homeless Man Touches, Threatens Woman at Gas Pump

TUESDAY, MAY 22
Public Intoxication
Elroy Jones, 26, of the 1900 block of Circle Court in Chicago Heights was charged with public intoxication. Police said Jones was arrested while refusing to leave a house he is no longer allowed inside because of a domestic battery arrest.

Threatened at the Pump
Cortez Tarver, 36, no listed address, was charged with battery, aggravated assault and intoxicated pedestrian on the roadway. A woman told police that she was pumping gas at Shell, around 1:45 p.m., when Tarver came up behind and began rubbing her side. According to the report, she told him to back off and he came back threatening to break her car windows with a brick. Police said Tarver, who later admitted to having been high, then left the gas station and was arrested nearby, at 14th and State streets.

Bullets Struck Houses on Separate Nights
It was four days before a 57-year-old woman the 300 block of Boston Street realized that the gunshots she heard in the middle of the night had traveled through her own home. Police said one bullet had traveled into the living room and through an adjacent bedroom wall. Bullets and casings were not found, but officers counted a total of three holes.
On May 22, police reported finding two bullet holes in the front second-story window of a home in the 400 block of 17th Street, but also could not find any projectiles.
Box Cutter Use in Domestic Battery
Amanda D. White, 28, of the 1300 block of Portland Avenue in Chicago Heights was charged with domestic battery. A man told police that he and White were arguing when she slammed a door on his left hand, around 1:30 p.m., and then cut one of his fingers with a box cutter.
Assault on the Golf Course
Paul R. Rupright, Jr., 57, of the 600 block of De Angelis Court in Chicago Heights was charged with assault. A man told police that he and Rupright were arguing at Gold Course West, around 2 p.m., when Rupright threatened to beat him.
