Police Blotter: Husband Punches Through Glass, Facebook Threats

FRIDAY, JAN. 18

Battery

A 22-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her boyfriend was harassing her and began pushing her around her apartment and pulling her hair when she asked him to leave. The boyfriend then grabbed her head and slammed it into the bedroom wall before she ran outside to call the police, according to the report. Just after the woman made the call, her boyfriend pushed her down, stepped on her arm and took her cell phone, fleeing with it, according to the report.

Facebook Threats

A 30-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she received a Facebook message from a woman in Bloomington, IN, threatening her 10-year-old niece. The message said, "Just telling you, I can get her, I'm gonna get her daughter, too," followed by "I'm not playing either, I'm (6) months pregnant," according to the report. The woman told police the message was directed at the niece's mother.

Ex Wants His Tools Back?

A 48-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her car was parked outside her home when, sometime between 10 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 11:05 a.m. on Jan. 17, a Craftsman toolbox containing several tools was taken from her car. The woman told police the tools belonged to her ex-boyfriend and that he may have taken them. The woman said the car may have been unlocked, according to the report.

Slashed Tires

A 69-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his car was parked in the driveway of his Constance Lane home when, between 8 a.m. on Jan. 16 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 17, someone slashed a tire on his vehicle. The gash on the sidewall of the tire was about 2 inches long, police said.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 16

Curbside Battery

A 35-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was parked in the 1200 block of Mason Court to pick up her child when her husband came up to the driver side of the car and punched her in the mouth. He then reached into the car, took her keys and removed her apartment key, according to the report. The woman told police she then rolled up her window, but her husband punched through it, shattering the window and causing the glass to go into the woman's face. Police were unable to locate the husband, according to the report.

Theft Attempt at Auto Zone

A Chicago Heights man told police he was parked in the east lot at Auto Zone on 14th Street when a woman with him heard his car alarm going off. The woman said she ran out of the store and saw a silver Jeep Cherokee parked behind the man's, according to the report. The woman told police she saw another man inside the driver's side of the man's vehicle "tampering with the dashboard." The woman yelled at the vehicle intruder and he got into the Jeep and fled, according to the report.

Identity Fraud at St. James

A 50-year-old Tinley Park man told police he received several bills from claiming he received medical treatment Nov. 15, 2011. The man said he did not receive treatment, adding when he spoke to hospital staff about the bills and was told they had a different date of birth on record for him, according to the report. The man was also told his social security number was not on file at the hospital, according to the report. Police are following up with the billing department at St. James.
