Chicago Heights Mom Keeps Out Son's Gal Pal

A Chicago Heights woman reported to police that her son's girlfriend, who the mother said was intoxicated, attempted to climb in the son’s bedroom window. After the mother spotted the girlfriend trying to enter the residence on 23rd Street, she went outside and advised her to leave the property, according to the report. However, the girlfriend tried to get in through the front door, then fled after the mother called police, according to the report.

Woman Flees with Baby in Her Arms

A Chicago Heights teen is charged with domestic battery after allegedly punching a woman and chasing her as she fled with a baby in her arms. Javon D. Russell, 18, of the 1200 block of Division, struck the woman with his fist, according to the report. The woman told police she feared Russell would hurt her. She declined medical attention, according to the report.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 17

Alleged Burglar Caught with Heavy Metal

A Chicago Heights man was charged with burglary after an officer investigating a sound of clanging metal found him dragging three 12-foot sections of a handrail, according to the report. Roderick L. Hamilton, 46, of East Main Street, was found with the metal around 7:40 a.m., police said. After intercepting Hamilton near a building in the 1700 block of Halsted Street, the officer noticed heavy ruts in the ground, apparently made by the heavy metal sections, according to the report. The officer also discovered that a boarded window had been forced open, the report said.

Couch Ruined by Urine

A Park Forest woman discoverd that her couch had become contaminated with urine after being stored at a local business, police said. The woman told an officer that she visited her unit at Public Storage, 1505 Western Ave., on Sept. 10, she smelled urine and she saw a yellow stain between her unit and the neighboring unit, according to the report.

Warrant, Possession Charges

Evergreen Park police said they saw a car with a missing headlight driving around 95th Street and Campbell Avenue at 9:34 p.m., and after speaking with the driver, they found that the passenger gave a false name and date of birth, and said he had no identification on him. According to reports, Floyd Gifford, 25, of Chicago Heights, told police there was an active warrant for his arrest from the Will County Sheriff. After confirming the warrant, police said they found a glass smoking bowl with marijuana residue, needles and a spoon rolled up in a sock under a rear seat. Police arrested and charged Gifford with possession of drug paraphernalia.
