Police Blotter: Oranges and Bottles Thrown at Vehicles

FRIDAY, MARCH 23
Punching, Biting at Ridgewood Tap
Anthony Aurelio, 32, of the 700 block of Coales Road in Chicago Heights was charged with battery after several witnesses alleged he repeatedly punched a man in the face inside Ridgewood Tap and then bit his hand as they fell to the ground. Witnesses also told police that Aurelio bit a second man who tried breaking up the fight. Aurelio, who reportedly had scratches on his head and body, claimed he had been attacked first and was merely defending himself. Police said paramedics took one man with blood on his face and hands to the hospital around 1 a.m. According to the report, all subjects had been “impaired by alcohol at the time of the fight.”

Bottle Toss With Scar
A 23-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he's had an ongoing problem with a man he only knows as Scar. For example, the man told police Scar once threw a bottle at his vehicle but missed it. On this particular day, Scar drove up behind the man as he was stopped in his vehicle at the stop light at Dixie Highway and Chicago Road, according to the report. Scar allegedly followed the man north on Chicago Road, west on 10th Street and north again on Dixie Highway before Scar's passenger threw a bottle at the man's vehicle, this time hitting it in the window, according to the report.

Oranges Go Flying
A 30-year-old Lynwood woman told police she came to Chicago Heights to pick up her children from her ex-boyfriend when he decided he wanted to talk about custody. The woman told her ex it was not the time to talk about it, but he followed her out and stepped in front of her, stating if she didn't want to talk she would regret it, according to the report. As the woman started back toward her car, the ex threw an orange that hit the passenger's side window of her car before leaving the area, police said.
Arrested at Nick's
John D. Williams, 44, of the first block of Apache Street in Park Forest, was arrested and charged panhandling after a employee of Nick's Gyros on 14th Street told police Williams had been begging customers for money, according to the report. Police located Williams and considered him to be highly intoxicated, according to the report. The employee told police Williams bothering customers has been an ongoing problem.
