Police Blotter: Parent Drives Through School Playground

SATURDAY, MAY 26

A Sip of Whiskey

A security guard at FedEx Freight on Joe Orr Road told police he learned an employee had been stealing. A witness told police the employee in question removed a bottle of George Dickel Tennessee whiskey from an open box on a pallet being prepared for shipment. The employee admitted to taking a sip of the whiskey and was immediately terminated from his position, according to the report. He was also told he would be arrested if he returned to the property, police said.

Reckless on School Property

A District 170 employee told police a Ford Escort sped through the playground at with children present. The employee described the driver as a heavy set woman wearing a wig, who has a distinct limp, according to the report. Two witnesses backed up the employees story, police said. The employee believed the woman to be the mother of a student at Washington-McKinley, police said. No one was injured during the incident.

Argument Ends in Dog Bite

A 32-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with a 34-year-old Chicago Heights man when her pit bull attacked him, biting him on the right forearm. Police saw two puncture wounds on the man's arm, but he refused medical attention, according to the report.

Criminal Damage

A Country Squire employee told police someone sprayed graffiti on the back of the store. The graffiti depicted the number four and the letters C, H and N along with a downward pointed pitchfork, police said. A surveillance video showed a pick-up truck and an SUV behind the business at the time in question, according to the report. There was also graffiti on a dumpster owned by Star Disposal in Homewood and the rear side of Pay Half, police said.

Battery

A 27-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with her boyfriend when the argument "got heated" and he struck her several time on her face. The boyfriend then drove away in his brother's vehicle, according to the report.
