Police Blotter: Police Chase Down Drug-Carrying Teen

Chicago Heights police reports, Nov. 5-7.

MONDAY, NOV. 7

DUI

Darahl Wright, 48, of the 3200 block of Holden Circle in Matteson, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him on 14th Street for speeding, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking, Wright told police he had one drink before driving, but registered above the legal blood-alcohol level in a Breathalyzer test, police said.

Teen Caught With Green

Police were patrolling an alley in the 100 block of East 22nd Street when they noticed a 15-year-old boy on a bike near several other boys, according to the report. Upon seeing police, the teen fled on his bike, and an officer chased him on foot, police said. The teen then threw a knotted bag on the ground, jumped off his bike and ran on foot before police captured and arrested him, according to the report. The contents of the bag tested positive for cannabis.

DUI

Thelma Lewis, 50, of the 4000 block of West 143rd Street in Crestwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped for speeding on Halsted, according to the report. Lewis haD "bloodshot, watery eyes," according to the report. Lewis told police she had two to three beers a few hours before driving. Lewis took a Breathalyzer and registered at more than three times the legal blood-alcohol content level, according to the report.

SATURDAY, NOV. 5

Marital Bliss

A 36-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she received 24 messages from her husband in which he talked about "doing great bodily harm and death" to her. The woman said her husband battered her and has been calling her place of employment.
