THURSDAY, SEPT. 29

Metal Theft From New Hope Baptist Church

New Hope Baptist Church, at 130 E. 13th St., was targeted by a metal thief or thieves who stole copper piping from the building, police said. The theft was discovered Sept. 29, but could have occurred up to two days earlier, according to the report. The piping was stripped from four air-conditioning units on the east side of the church, police said.

Wire Theft At Plant Marvel Warehouse

The company owner of Plant Marvel was informed that business equipment was damaged and burglarized when wire was stripped from the building at 371 E. 16th St., police said. An employee arriving for work found the east overhead door damaged, power to the building cut, a door frame was damaged and wire was ripped from the walls, according to the report.

Homewood Siblings Stung by 'Home Improvement' Burglary

A Homewood man, his sister and a Chicago Heights man were disappointed to discover that tools, paint, cable, linoleum and a ladder were stolen from a Chicago Heights property they were renovating, police said. The Chicago Heights man told police he checked on the property in the 300 block of West 15th Street around 5 p.m. and discovered that a rear door was unsecured, according to the report. The Homewood woman, who owns the property, learned later that her stolen property included three 1-gallon paint cans, cleaning supplies, screen kit, spiral BX cable, light fixture and a roll of linoleum, police said. The Chicago Heights man said his losses included a black drill, a hand rodder, three scrapers, and a 6-foot alumnium ladder, according to the report. 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 24

Cal City Man Punched At White Castle

A Calumet City man told police he was punched in the face by another man at the White Castle restaurant at 701 W. 14th St, police said. The man told police his attacker then fled the restaurant, according to the report. The officer noted an abrasion near the victim's right eye, but the man refused treatment, police said.
