Police Blotter: Seat Belt Stop Leads to Drug Possession Arrest

Chicago Heights police reports, Feb. 25.

Bags of Weed

James O. Johnson, 27, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police stopped him near 14th Street and East End for not wearing a seat belt, according to the report. After smelling marijuana in his vehicle police searched Johnson, discovering a small bag inside Johnson's left sock, according to the report. Police ultimately discovered six clear plastic bags, each containing marijuana, according to the report.

Love and Marriage

Clarence Jones Jr., 55, of the 100 block of Elder, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after an argument with his wife over money, according to the report. Jone struck his wife about the face as she fought him off by scratching his face, she told police. Police arrived and believed Jones was intoxicated, taking him into custody, according to the report. Both has minor injuries but refused medical treatment, police said.

Flat Tires

A 42-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he discovered the rear and front tires of his vehicle had been flattened. Police saw the flat tires but did not see any slash marks, according to the report. The man said he suspected his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend of doing the deed, according to the report.

Random Punch

A 28-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was dropping off a friend at Olympia Village Apartments when a 25-year-old woman that lives at the apartments opened the door to her vehicle and punched her in the face. The attacker then fled the area, according to the report.

Stolen Truck

A 23-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her Chevy Avalanche was stolen from right in front of her 23rd Street home sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
