Police Blotter: Teacher Spots Gun On School Grounds After Hours

Chicago Heights police reports, March 19-20

TUESDAY, MARCH 20

DUI After Cops Find Her Car

Ashley L. Davis, 26, of the 2400 block of Chicago Road in Chicago Heights was charged with driving under the influence, failure to wear seat belt, driving while suspended and no insurance. Police said they met with Davis at her house, around 4 a.m., about her missing car. After locating it in the 300 block of Hickory Street and waiting for a tow, Davis showed up behind the wheel of another smelling of alcohol. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, police said.

Domestic Battery

Julius A. Williams, 23, of the 1100 block of Emerald Avenue in Chicago Heights was charged with domestic battery. A woman told police that she and Williams were arguing in his home, around 10 a.m., when he began choking her.

Blocking Traffic

Remone R. Butler, 18, of the 100 block of Ash Street in Park Forest; Martell R. Jones, 20, of the 300 block of Standish Street in Chicago Heights; and Derrick Lacy, 20, of the 600 block of Andover Street in Chicago Heights were charged with improper walking in the roadway. Police said the men were seen walking in the middle of 16th and Division streets, blocking traffic.

Criminal Trespass for Panhandling

Ricky Smith, 53, of the 700 block of Violet Lane in Matteson was charged with criminal trespass. A parking lot owner told police that Smith was panhandling on his property, in the 200 block of 14th Street, around 8 p.m., and refused to leave.

MONDAY, MARCH 19

Gun Spotted Outside School, Afterhours

A teacher at Serena Hills School told police she saw a large group of male teens and young men gathering in the parking lot and playground around 6 p.m. One of them, she said, was carrying a handgun and when the group dispersed, he jumped in the back of a red minivan headed northbound on Serena Drive.

Assault for Brick Throwing

Demetrius Ellis, 27, of the 1000 block of Grant Avenue in Chicago Heights was charged with assault. A woman told police that she and Ellis were arguing outside her house, around 10:45 a.m., when Ellis threw a brick at her and missed.

Disorderly Conduct

Vincent T. Fines, 49, of the 100 block of Sangamon Avenue in Chicago was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said they were called around 4 p.m. about a man later identified as Fines, who was yelling and swearing and refusing to leave.
