Police Blotter: Teen Allegedly Beaten at Chicago Heights School

Chicago Heights police reports, June 9.

Big Disturbance

Police broke up a large disturbance involving between 100 and 150 people near the intersection of 13th Street and Mason Court, according to the report. They got rid of most of the crowd without any incidents but several smaller groups continued to "wander about" the Cook County Housing Authority, police said. Police observed six people to be intoxicated, who were refusing to disperse, according to the report. Those six were taken into custody, police said.

Beaten on Pleasant Drive

A 19-year-old Homewood man told police he was at Serena Hills School "jumped" by 12 people, at least one of which was from Chicago Heights. Police saw several injuries on the man, including "swollen eyes, crooked nose, redness of the face and small cuts on his face," according to the report. The man told police he was struck several times in the face with closed fists, but he refused medical attention. Police were unable to locate the offenders, according to the report.

Leaving Would Have Been Easier

Herchel J. Tyler, 25, of the 1100 block of 5th Avenue and Robert T. Moore, 30, of the 200 block of Holbrook Road, were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing to property after police saw them gathering at a residence belonging to the Cook County Housing Authority, according to the report. Police asked the two to leave the area several times but they refused, according to the report.

A 47-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police that sometime between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. someone used black spray paint to put a symbol on the garage door of her Union Avenue home. A police drawing of the symbol is included in the photos for this article.

Big Bill from Comcast

A 52-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she received a notice from a collection agency, telling her she owes Comcast more than $2,000 in unpaid charges. The woman told police she has never purchased any cable services from Comcast and that the company informed her they had been sending monthly bills to an address in Carpentersville, IL.
