Police Blotter: Thief Holds Door Before Purse Snatching

Dog-on-Dog Violence

A 71-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was walking her dog past a residence in the 800 block of Luther Lane when another dog jumped over a fence and grabbed her dog around the neck. The woman broke up the dog fight and went home before contacting police, according to the report. The woman did not want to press charges against the attacking dog's owner but wanted to make sure it had all its shots, which it did, police said.

Polite Thief

A 36-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was moving several boxes into her Olympic Village apartment building when a man she did not know held the door open for her. As the woman passed the man, he grabbed her purse and ran out of the building, according to the report.

Beaten by 'Benny'

A 51-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was walking northbound on Division Street near Olympic Village when a man named "Benny" came up behind him and hit him four or five times in the back of his head with a closed fist. Benny then got onto a bicycle and continued northbound on Division. The man refused medical treatment and told police he's had an ongoing problem with his attacker.

Fraud at St. James

A doctor at St. James Hospital told police a man entered the emergency room saying he was 52 years old and his name was Charles Davis. The man requested pain medication but left after he was asked to show identification, according to the report. The doctor told police the man had been to St. James in Chicago Heights and in Olympia Fields several times.
