Police Blotter: Two DUIs and a Car Chase

Vehicle Damage During Chase

A 20-year-old Flossmoor man told police a 29-year-old man in a white Ford Focus chased him while he was driving his vehicle on Pleasant Drive. The Ford driver then rammed into the rear of the man's vehicle before leaving the area, according to the report. A witness told police the Ford driver was the father of her child, adding that there had not been any problems in the past. The man told police he may have hit another vehicle while trying to get away from the Ford driver.

DUI with an Open Can

Adam Alcantar, 31, of the 1300 block of Emerald Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police stopped him for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign, according to the report. Upon smelling alcohol on Alcantar's breath and seeing an open can of beer in his center console, police had him perform field sobriety tests, according to the report. Alcantar was hit with additional charges of disobeying a stop sign, lack of insurance, transporting open alcohol and having a blood-alcohol content level above .08, according to the report.

DUI on Shields

David Peavy, 55, of the 1400 block of Kinross Street in Flossmoor, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him upon seeing him drop off three passengers in the 1500 block Shields Avenue, an area "known for high narcotic sales and arrests," according to the report. Peavy got out of his truck and spoke with police in the street, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking, Peavy told police he had not, but struggled to perform some field sobriety tests while refusing to do the rest. 

Gun Drawn

A 20-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with her boyfriend about him losing her cell phone when both became angry and began pushing each other. The man then pulled out a black revolver and said "I'll (expletive) kill you," according to the report. As the woman called police, the boyfriend left the area, according to the report.

Drug Possession

Lucas Scott Walkowiak, 26, of the 300 block of North Nichols Street in Lowell, IN, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police were called about a dark Chevy Malibu being seen on 16th Street with the passenger carrying a pistol, according to the report. When police found Walkowiak and his passenger in a parking lot and had both step out of the vehicle. No gun was found on either of them but police found a bag in Walkowiak's pocket, which he told police contained cannabis, according to the report. Walkowiak's passenger was released without charges and his vehicle was impounded, police said.
