Police Blotter: Woman Hit With Golf Club, Threatened With Gun

Aggravated DUI

Antonio Gomez, 33, of the 4900 block of Baring Avenue in East Chicago, IN, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped near the intersection of 16th Street and Aberdeen Street, according to the report.

Golf Club and Gun Attack

A 25-year-old Thornton woman told police she was in an altercation with a 20-year-old Chicago Heights man over family matters when he picked up a golf club and swung it at her, striking her in the left hand. The man then pulled out a black automatic handgun and pointed it at her, stating, "I'll (profanity) kill you," before fleeing, according to the report.

Phone Threats

A 29-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she received a phone call from a company called "Natural Life," with a representative telling her she is a prize winner. The representative told the woman she needed to send money in order to receive her prize, according to the report. When the woman declined, the representative told her "bad things will happen to your family" if she didn't pay, according to the report. The woman received 16 calls from the company issuing the same threat, police said.

Stolen Baby Formula

Mary Scott, 67, of the 700 block of Burnham Drive in University Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after police said she went past the last point of purchase at Ultra Foods without paying for 11 cans of Enfamil formula.
