Police: Fresh Market Trespasser Screams His Way to Jail

Chicago Heights police reports, Aug. 26-30.

THURSDAY, AUG. 30

Not a Full Deck

Kevin C. Snell, 47, of the 18700 block of East Salem Court in Lansing, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him for traveling north in the southbound lane of Halsted Street, according to the report. Asked if he had been drinking, Snell told police he had one beer within the previous 30 minutes. Asked to exit his vehicle, Snell dropped a pile of cards on his lap and outside the vehicle, police said. After taking field sobriety tests, Snell was taken into custody. He was also charged with improper lane usage, no proof of insurance and having an alcohol concentration above .08, according to the report.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 29

Grocery Store Screamer

Jerry C. Moore, 25, of the 1600 block of Chicago Road, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property and disorderly conduct after an employee of Heights Fresh Market told police Moore entered the store yelling and scaring shoppers. Moore then refused employees' demands that he leave, according to the report. When police arrived Moore was in the parking lot screaming with no shirt on, according to the report. Police told Moore to get on the ground, to which he responded "I'm not gonna do (expletive)," according to the report. Police then sprayed Moore with a "chemical irritant" and placed him into custody, according to the report.

F.B.I. Virus?

A 26-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she received a fraudulent message "via the Internet" telling her she was in violation of federal entertainment laws and that she had to pay a fee of $200 to the Federal Bureau of Investigation through Moneypak. The woman said the message stopped her computer from accessing the Internet, according to the report.

Simple Message

A 21-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 29 an unknown person write "I don't like you" on her driver's side door below the window. 

SUNDAY, AUG. 26

Gas Station Clash

A 33-year-old Chicago Heights man called police to Marathon Gas Station in the 700 block of Halsted to report an armed robbery. The man told police he bumped into another man at the gas station about a week before and the two had a brief argument before parting ways. On Aug. 26 the two saw each other again at the Marathon and the stranger punched the man in the face. At that point the man's cousin, who was with him, saw three men get out of a maroon-colored Buick and walked toward the new enemies, according to the report. The first attacker then revealed the black handle of gun sticking out of his pants and said, "I'll shoot the (expletive) out of you," according to the report. The two victims ran away, but not before dropping the man's car and house keys, which were picked up by one of the four men, according to the report.
