An autopsy determined Smith died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Another male also was wounded in the shooting and was taken to , where he was treated and released. Police have not said whether the man was one of the security guards.

The guards work for a private company that has a contract with Lioncrest Townhomes and not the Richton Park Police Department, police said.

It breaks my heart that our young people live and die this way. Rest in peace, Mr. Smith, and God bless your family that is surely mourning your death but celebrating your life as it was before turning to crime.

IT is a shame that our young people die this way, but then I have to ask, why did he have a gun in a vehicle firing into the air or at homes? And then why fire at a security guard? This guy was messed up in the head! Either that or he was trying to commit suicide! A normal person would not be shooting at anyone, much less than armed security guards or police! Also, a normal person would not be out at 4am shooting at anything!
