Update: Heights Teen Remains in Critical Condition Two Days After Being Attacked

The Chicago Heights Police Department is seeking the public's help with the investigation into an attack on an 18-year-old man.

The is asking for the public's help in investigating an attack on an 18-year-old man that left him critically injured Monday.

Around 5:45 p.m., police received 911 calls reporting gunfire in the alleyway in the 400 block of East 22nd Street, according to a release from the department.

Once on the scene, officers said they found a man bleeding from a severe head injury. Because of his injuries, the man was able only to tell the officers that he had been struck in the head with a bat, police said.

The arrived on the scene and transported the man to , but he was then airlifted to Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn for further treatment. Hospital spokesman Mike Maggio said the victim remained in critical condition as of 4:25 p.m. Wednesday.

One witness told officers that three men were seen running from the scene, according to police.
